Loggerheads country park in the Clwydian range of hills and designated Area of outstanding beauty which is quite rightfully so, which was today's walking venue with some exploring of the old Lead mine workings.
The park trails are well marked out and maps are available form the shop at the park as well as available parking and tea room on site.
The trail we took starts by turning right on the bridge in the country park and then a short walk following the river to a steep set of steps built into the hill side which is exactly 100 steps to the top were the views are worth the climb.
With a slight detour from the trail and following an old tram-line to the Devils Gorge to a spectacular bridge over some mine workings which i managed to get into the mine as much as possible which inside had been blocked off, an old trick when a mine was abandoned was to blow the entrance with dynamite.
Being January there was very little to see in way of wildlife, but no doubt there is an abundance of wildlife come the spring and summer, information boards gave some good information on local wildlife.
Finished the walk with a well deserved cup of tea and cake.
